The Stockton Sailing Club Junior Program

The Stockton Sailing Club Junior sailing program is an opportunity for young sailors that would like to spend more time on the water.  Much of the on-the-water activity takes place over the summer months as the weather and the wind allow.  This includes casual “fun sails,” as well as a mix of destination sails, and racing opportunities.

Once the fall weather arrives, there may be opportunities for more experienced junior sailors to participate in a high school/middle school racing program in the Bay Area.  There are also social events: fun sails typically include a BBQ that includes the whole family, pot lucks and volunteering at Club social events (Friday Night Dinners and the Crab Feed) are typically on the calendar as well.

The Stockton Sailing Club Junior program is run by volunteers, so the availability of activities is largely dependent upon the ability of parents and other volunteers to help.  Volunteer opportunities include: helping with BBQs at events, assisting in safety boats and on the docks, participating in planning meetings to coordinate events, and driving and towing boats to events in the Bay Area.  Please see “Membership info,” below for instructions about joining.

Membership info:

Membership is available to sailors 8 to 21, or 24 if they are going to school full time.  Continuing Junior members need to fill out a membership form every year and a code of conduct form once.  If you have a family membership at Stockton Sailing Club, no payment is required.  If not, you must also include the payment of $54 to the Stockton Sailing Club.  If your junior has taken lessons as a part of the Stockton Sailing Club Learn to Sail program in the current year, then they will have purchased a temporary membership that lasts through August and are welcome to attend junior functions.  If they want to continue participating then they can simply sign-up for an annual membership.

Download the membership form, fill it out, and then return it to the Harbor Office (along with payment if needed.)  Payments will not be deposited until membership is finalized.

We will contact you and will meet with you and your parents at the earliest time that we can.  This will allow you to ask any questions and find out more about the program.

Thank you for your interest in our junior sailing program.
